A lot of people a curious about the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Yes it locks your front breaks which allows you to do wicked sweet burnouts at the local Dairy Queen/Cars & Coffee. But why do drag racers do them?
In the video above, you see the incredible John Force doing one of his world famous burnouts. And as you can tell, his "Mustang" doesn't stay stationary, but rather it goes down the track a significant distance. What he is doing is using his 10,000 horse power to spin the tires until they melt. This, like all burnouts, heats up and cleans debris off the tires. But, unlike your stationary burnout, by going down the track, Mr. Force is putting down a layer of rubber on the surface. This greatly increases the coefficient of friction of the track. When you increase the coefficient of friction, you increase the amount of grip. Rubber on tarmac is grippy, but rubber on rubber is even more so. This gives him an advantage off the line, lowering his time by allowing him to accelerate more rapidly.

A fun part of the burnout is the rollout. Usually the only time you see someone stay stationary is because they don't know what they're doing, or they just care about tire smoke.
In the video below, you see the infamous MPA doing one of his world famous 3-pedal shuffle burnouts. Because his friend said if he didn't, he's a pussy.

Interesting.
Of course none of that matters. The majority of people who will use the line lock system will just do it to impress girls.

Regular Cars summed it up pretty well in the infamous Miata video: the only people a car like the Mustang will attract are other car guys.

The problem is most people see the line lock and think it's for burnouts, when in reality it's actually so that when drag racing the driver can use their hands to hold the line lock instead of holding the brake pedal with their feet, leaving them free to operate the throttle and clutch for maximum launch control.
That is, unless Ford designed it to use the brake pedal to activate the line lock (couldn't quite tell from the article), then it's just stupid.

In drag racing line locks are used to lock the front wheels until the rears start spinning then either the driver releases it or it slowly releases the pressure to continue in the rolling burnout

Yes, as I stated, but a lot of people will only use the Mustang's line lock for show off burnouts.

Yes unfortunately. But it does save all that wear on your rear brakes when you do wanna roast the tires :)

Then you lay stripes like a man and don't use the line lock.
